'Shiva Baby' is a psychological drag-comedy. It focuses on Danielle and her palpable panic and her many contradictory feelings that envelop her in a situation with impossible coincidences, in which the control she desperately needed is turned upside down. Very well played.

Well made and well carried by a trio of interestingly chosen actors, with Sam Shepard in one of the last captivating roles before leaving this world too early.

Bine facut si dus in spate de un trio de actori interesant alesi, cu Sam Shepard intr-unul din ultimele roluri mai captivante inainte de a ne parasi.

'Villains' e ce se cheama dark comedy, cu aere dramatice. Are un umor subtil si negru, personaje pestrite si memorabile si un grup de actori ce sunt bine alesi. Personajele sunt bine echilibrate, termenul villain fiind ales cu dublu inteles, reprezentand exact ce te astepti dar si faptul ca primele impresii inseala. Nu e un film perfect, dar e perfect potrivit pentru a fi delectat de fanii genului sau ai distributiei.

A couple breaks into an isolated house for an impromptu robbery, but what they find completely changes their next actions.

'Villains' is what they calle a dark comedy, with dramatic undertones. It has a subtle and dark humor, diverse and memorable characters and a group of well-chosen actors. The characters are well balanced, the term villain being chosen with a double meaning, representing exactly what you expect but also the fact that first impressions are deceiving. It's not a perfect movie, but it's perfectly suited to be enjoyed by fans of the genre or of the cast.

'Of Human Bondage' is one of several screen adaptations of a novel from the beginning of the last century. Cold, superficial and rushed, the film fails to evoke what it seems to be trying to suggest. The best quality of the film is that it managed to give a successful start to the career of Bette Davis.

A noble young woman agrees to become a princess to save her people from starvation, but the trade is not exactly what it initially appeared to be.

'Damsel' is a fantasy film with teeth. It is far from being a masterpiece that offers a deep and multi-faceted meaning, the plot and its development are predictable and the message a bit too on-the-nose, and yet it is a source of genuine entertainment precisely for the cheap satisfaction and in addition, hearing Shohreh Aghdashloo's voice from the dragon's mouth is a real delight.

E departe de a fi o capodopera ce ofera un inteles adanc si multi-fatetat, intriga si dezvoltarea actiunii sunt previzibile si mesajul foarte on-the-nose, si totusi e o sursa de entertainment veritabil tocmai pentru satisfactia ieftina si in plus, un adevarat regal devine evident cand vocea lui Shohreh Aghdashloo se face auzita din gura dragonului.

The Nun II (2023)

The nun Irene is sent to investigate a series of religious crimes that seem to be committed by the previously defeated demon.

'The Nun II' is the continuation of the story of the ghost nun from the films from The Conjuring franchise. It keeps the original distribution (with small changes) and somehow manages to obtain a more consistent and whole result, with as many horror-type actions as it can fit and many layers that manage to keep attention away from any possible flaws. Not flawless but attention grabing with what the audience likes.

Un tata singur este capabil de a da viata personajelor din carti si trebuie sa opreasca un astfel de personaj din a distruge lumea.

'Inkheart' este e adaptare dupa o carte fantasy pentru copii mult iubita. Ideea si povestea suna fascinant in teorie si diferitele rezumate, dar adaptarea lasa de dorit, lipsindu-i acel ceva ce atrage pivitorul ca un magnet si unifica magia fantasticului intr-un intreg ce satisface multele cerinte: originalitate (check, dar cam atat), dialog bogat si coerent, fantezie ce apare fantastica si personaje memorabile prin altceva decat ca ii cheama Paul Bettany.

A single father is able to give life to characters in books and must stop such a character from destroying the world.

'Inkheart' is an adaptation of a much-loved children's fantasy book. The idea and the story sound fascinating in theory and the various summaries one reads about it, but the adaptation leaves much to be desired, lacking that something that attracts the viewers like a magnet and unifies the magic of the fantastic into a whole that satisfies many requirements: originality (check, but that's about it), rich and coherent dialogue, fantasy that appears fantastic and characters memorable by something other than their name being Paul Bettany.

Un om de stiinta si un bucatar se indragostesc unul de altul in mijlocul unei epidemii ce cauzeaza pierderea simturilor.

'Perfect Sense' e o drama poetica, o metafora a lumii moderne si speranta pentru sentimente intense si reale. Cei doi protagonisti sunt foarte bine alesi si extrem de expresivi in portretizarea unor trairi intense si traumatizante, ce cauzeaza o varietate de reactii contradictorii. Un regal.

'Perfect Sense' is a poetic drama, a metaphor of the modern world and the hope for intense and real feelings still being possible. The two protagonists are very well chosen, with a great chemistry and extremely expressive in portraying intense and traumatic experiences, which cause a variety of contradictory reactions. A real gem.

'Chaos' is an old fashioned police thriller. It tries to suggest many complex and intelligent ideas but without providing the necessary basis to make them believable. The film has a strong cast, but a script that does not help it exceed the label  of "run of the mill".

Dexter: New Blood (2021–2022)

10 years after he faked his death, his son manages to find him.

'New Blood' is an event (and just a one off) season that continues the story of Dexter after the well-known finale of the series that ended in 2013. Made for the sake of the fans, it tried to fix what displeased many, but unfortunately it seems that the effect of this one was even more negative. The new story is not bad, but the spirit and humor of the original is missing. Dexter is uncharacteristically clumsy and inept just for the sake of creating twists and knife-edge scenes, and the ending... is not worth mentioning.

La 10 ani dupa ce si-a inscenat moartea, fiul sau il regaseste.

'New Blood' este un sezon eveniment si unic ce continuie povestea lui Dexter dupa finalul bine cunoscut al seriei ce s-a terminat in 2013. Facut de dragul fanilor, a incercat sa repare ce a nemultumit pe multi, dar din pacate se pare ca efectl a fost si mai negativ. Povestea noua nu e rea, dar spiritul si umorul originalului lipseste. Dexter este necaracteristic de stangaci si nepriceput doar de dragul de a crea twisturi si scene pe muchie de cutit, iar finalul... nu merita mentionat.

O colonie umana doar de barbati trece printr-un soc cand o nava cu un pilot femeie se prabuseste in apropiere.

'Chaos Walking' e o ecranizare dupa un roman YA SF preaiubit. Cu o idee ridicola (gandurile barbatilor sunt expuse permanent celor din jurul lor), filmul are ceva de spus in ceea ce priveste entertainmentul dar ca si creatie artistica, lasa mult de dorit.

'Chaos Walking' is an adaptation of a beloved YA Sci-Fi novel. With a ridiculous idea (men's thoughts are constantly exposed to those around them), the film has something to say in terms of entertainment, but as an artistic creation, it leaves a lot to be desired.
