Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Affairs (2024)

A small group of unorthodox military specialists is chosen by Winston Churchill for a secret mission.

'Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Affairs' is based on some quasi-true facts, and Guy Ritchie applied his characteristic style to create a film with characters full of cheap bravado and uninspired dialogue.

Director:  Guy Ritchie

With: Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Cary Elwes, Eiza González, Til Schweiger, Rory Kinnear

Men (2022)

Harper rents a house in the country side to recover from the trauma of her ex-husband's death.

'Men' is at a first glance a dramatic story, full of trauma and painful memories and monotonous walks on forest paths and fields. Until it turns into something else, a kind of horror (which was expected) mixed in with morbid poetic analysis of the harmful effect of toxic male personalities. Although it is an often heard lesson, the film remains interesting and hypnotic through its quota of creepiness and its originality in execution.

Director:  Alex Garland

With: Jessie Buckley, Rory Kinnear, Paapa Essiedu, Gayle Rankin

Rating: 9/10

Black Mirror Season 1 (2011)

An unimaginable request for a prime minister. Energy and points obtained by people on bicycles. The possibility to review and analyze the memories of the day.

The season that started the Black Mirror mania. With only 3 episodes, all very British, the first season showed the world what Charlie Brooker's mind can do when he wants to antagonize technological evolution in any way he wants. Well thought out, well acted, very diverse in themes and unexpected in development.

The Diplomat (2023-)

Passionate about international crises, Kate Wyler is forced into a decorative role, which she assumes and transforms into what she needs.

'The Diplomat' is a political series, dramatic, a bit soap-opera-ish, a bit of contrary styles, combined with the most positive effect possible. Full of lively and rich dialogue, lovers of sarcasm and incredible situations will have a field day. Keri Russell is excellent in the lead role and Rufus Sewell (the husband) and David Gyasi (the British foreign minister) are not far behind.

Penny Dreadful (2014 - 2016)

Povestile unor personaje familiare ca Frankenstein, Dracula sau Dorian Gray se incalcesc minunat in aventuri noi si vechi in Londra victoriana.

Un serial inspirat de personajele unor romane gotice sau horror celebre. Povestea este in schimb foarte originala si foloseste unele elemente definitorii ale acestor personaje aproape numai in trecere.
