The Northman (2022)

A Viking prince vows revenge for his father's death.

'The Northman' is an action film.. that's quite artistic. Stylized to the point of satiety, it manages to hold the viewer's attention, without forcing them to choose a side justice belongs to, merely just suggesting favorites. Well made, with a cast of surprising names, The Northman is a welcome choice.

Director:  Robert Eggers
With: Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Ethan Hawke, Anya Taylor-Joy, Willem Dafoe

Rating: 8/10

Leave the World Behind (2023)

A family rents a dream house, but the moment coincides with a cyberattack that changes the rules.

"Leave the World Behind" is a thriller that tries to make a clever point about the world's addiction to technology, but remains intriguing only through the interesting interaction between 6 very different people.

Director:  Sam Esmail
With: Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha'la

Rating: 7/10

Moon Knight (2022)

Steven discovers that he has multiple personalities, including a Marc who has supernatural powers goven to him by an Egyptian god.

'Moon Night' is a series from the Marvel universe, which does not seem to have any direct connection with the rest of the well-known heroes. Original, often comical, the series manages to be attractive without being boring - unlike the bigger movies.. Oscar Isaac is wonderful in the role with multiple and very different personalities.

Director:  Mohamed Diab and others
Production:  Disney
Creator:  Doug Moench
Duration: 1 season of 6 episodes (42-50 minutes each)
With: Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, May Calamawy, Michael Benjamin Hernandez

Rating: 7.9/10

'The Black Phone' is a supernatural horror/thriller. With good performances, well thought out, but with a bittersweet effect.

Taking Lives (2004)

An FBI peofiler is assisting the Canadian police following some serial killings in which the perpetrator steals the victims' identities.

"Taking Lives" is a forensic investigation thriller with some melodramatic moments. It involves a dream cast, and yet the film cannot refrain from a few weak spots when it comes to logic and natural reactions. The idea is interesting though.

Director:  D.J. Caruso
With: Angelina Jolie, Ethan Hawke, Kiefer Sutherland, Olivier Martinez, Tchéky Karyo, Paul Dano, Gena Rowlands

Rating: 7/10

Brooklyn's Finest (2009)

Regie: Antoine Fuqua
Scenariu: Michael C. Martin
Cu: Ethan Hawke, Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Wesley Snipes, Ellen Barkin, Will Patton, Vincent D'Onofrio, Lili Taylor

Daybreakers (2009)

Regia: Michael Spierig, Peter Spierig
Scenariul: Michael Spierig, Peter Spierig
Cu: Ethan Hawke, Willem Defoe, Sam Neill

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead(2007)
