Babylon (2022)

The beginning of Hollywood, through the lens of a young man fascinated by cinema, an actress who wants to become a star and a fading star.

"Babylon" is an artistic, dramatic film, that can be difficult to describe. Full of fantasy, and fascination for the decadent period that led the film world in its silent beginnings, it shows freedom, limitless expression as well as the forgetting in easy life, various addictions and cheap admiration. With ideas similar to 'Singing in the Rain', the parallel between the two films is mentioned almost at every step. Fascinating, but also sad.

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Spider-Man seeks the help of Doctor Strange after his identity is revealed.

'Spider-Man: No Way Home' is the latest in a long line of films with the much-loved hero. It is quite original, fun, nostalgic and interesting due to the presence of Doctor Strange and many of the characters of the past iterations.

The Great Gatsby (2013)

Versiune hiper stilizata si deloc necesara a binecunoscutului roman.

Leonardo DiCaprio, obisnuit cu repertorii violente in manifestare si generatoare de aclamatii, reuseste sa forteze luptele interne ale personajului prea mult in exterior in contrast cu imaginea mai subtila si dandy al lui Gatsby cu care fanii frumoasei povesti s-au obisnuit.

Nu neg abilitatea filmului de a-si intretine publicul, dar sincer am preferat varianta veche a filmului, cu un mult mai potrivit Robert Redford si chiar Mia Farrow. Avand in vedere ca aceea e o ecranizare mult criticata de...fanii cititori nu e deloc o bila alba pentru Baz Luhrman, care fusese fara pata pana acum.

Pleasantville (1998)

Doi gemeni, complet diferiti, sunt blocati printr-un accident voit in lumea imaginara a unui sitcom american alb-negru.

Minunata parabola cu chip de basm modern. Sute de ani de istorie a intolerantei, naturii umane si a luptei pentru libertate sunt concentrate in actiunea unui mic sitcom tipic anii '50 ce prinde viata intr-un orasel complet izolat si inconstient de limitarea lui. Incepe ca o comedie cu adolescenti, te prinde in mreje prin caricatura, continua ca revolutie artistica eliberatoare, te intriga prin elemente tipic Orwell-iene, te implineste printr-un deznodamant anuntat si te invata lectia acceptarii si evolutiei prin ironia neputintei.
