'Anna and the Apocalypse' este un musical horror. Plin de muzica tipica genului, ce "iti sare in ochi" in chiar orice moment, filmul este fidel genului horror, atat in ceea ce priveste cantitatea de gore dar si proportia slabuta de final hollywoodian. Interesant si original.

'Anna and the Apocalypse' is a horror musical. Full of music that's so typical of the genre, which just springs up at any moment, the film is faithful to its horror roots, both in terms of the quantity of gore and the weak amount of a Hollywood ending. Interesting and original.

A Murder at the End of the World (2023)

An eccentric technological genius and his wife invite a group of people - exceptional in their field - to an isolated hotel in Iceland, where a murder takes place on the first night.

'A Murder at the End of the World' is a dramatic miniseries that follows a more unorthodox and very modern forensic investigation. With a group of actors that are well known but not too mainstream, and rarely seen on the screen, the series is ambitious from the first moment and follows a line of slow but determined development and is imbued with memory scenes that highlight the emotional weight of the facts the main character has to bear. With some imperfections in the script, especially related to the moments when some characters call others geniuses with no real proof, the geographical situation, and the subtle and skillfully quiet cinematography create an experience worth savoring, even with the week-long wait for each new episode.

Un geniu tehnologic excentric si sotia lui invita un grup de oameni exceptionali in domeniul lor, intr-un hotel izolat in Islanda, unde o crima are loc in prima seara.

'A Murder at the End of the World' e o miniserie dramatica ce urmeaza o investigatie criminalistica mai neortodoxa si foarte moderna. Cu un grup de actori cunoscuti dar nu prea mainstream, si mai rar vazuti, seria este ambitioasa din primul moment si urmeaza o linie de dezvoltare lenta dar sigura si imbibata cu amintiri ce evidentiaza greutatea emotionala a faptelor asupra personajului principal. Cu unele imperfectiuni in scenariu, mai ales legate de momentele in care unele personaje numesc pe altele genii, situatia geografica, si cinematografia subtila si abil tacuta creeaza o experienta ce merita gustata, chiar si cu asteptarea de o saptamana pentru fiecare episod nou.

'The Imperfects' este un serial SF-istic, axat pe idea de supraputeri si eroi cu inimi mari, un sablon foarte utilizat zilele astea. Fresh, si cu un dialog amuzant, serialul ar fi putut prinde aripi intr-un al doilea sezon, dar nu a apucat.

'Books of Blood' e un film antologie horror bazat pe cartile cu acelasi nume ale lui Clive Barker. Un urias al genului, stilul horror-ului sau se face simtit cu usurinta. Cele trei povesti sunt bine legate, cu legaturile surprinzatoare dezvaluite abil si fara pompa, iar echipele de actori sunt bine alese.

Three seemingly unrelated stories: a young woman running away from her own conscience, a mother who wants to communicate with her dead son and some criminals on the hunt for a legendary book.

'Books of Blood' is a horror anthology film based on the books of the same name by Clive Barker. A giant of the genre, his horror style is easily felt in this adaptation. The three stories are well put together, their surprising connections revealed skillfully and without pomp, and the teams of actors are well chosen.

Mirrors (2008)

A former policeman accepts a job as a night watchman at a former mall destroyed by fire, where the mirrors reveal mysterious images.

'Mirrors' is a mysterious horror film from the wave of quality horror before the launch of the elevated-horror movement. Kiefer Sutherland takes on an uncharacteristic role and pulls it off successfully. The special effects are decent, even if seen today and the story has appeal.

'Mirrors' este un film de groaza misterios din valul de horror de calitate dinainte de lansarea miscarii de elevated-horror. Kiefer Sutherland preia un rol necaracteristic si isi duce roul in spate cu succes. Efectele speciale sunt decente, chiar si daca vazut in ziua de azi iar povestea are appeal.

'Strange World' este un film de animatie plin de aventuri si imaginatie. Reuseste sa duca stilul Disney departe de sablonul prea utilizat in incercarea de a acoperi gusturi mai moderne si idei noi. Nu a avut succesul pe care il merita.

'Effie Gray' este un film biografic, cu licentele poetice de rigoare ce prezinta un episod interesant din viata unor nume ce apartin istoriei. Faptele par de o natura grosolana, asociata de obicei cu barfa, dar interactiunile si perioada in care au loc, ofera un unghi interesant asupra unei conjuncturi neobisnuite.

'Effie Gray' is a biographical film, with the usual poetic license applied that presents an interesting episode in the life of names that belong to history. The facts seem of a crude nature, usually associated with gossip, but the interactions and the period in which they take place, offer an interesting angle on an unusual situation.
