House of the Dragon (2022– )

The succession war in the Targaryen house, 172 years before Daenerys came along.

"House of the Dragon" is a series based on another set of George RR Martin's books, which presents the history of the Targaryen house, at a time when dragons were still in considerable numbers. Full of intrigue, more or less moderate shock (GOT forever changed the bar), captivating characters, and yet the lack of typologies like those of the Starks is felt.

Last Night in Soho (2021)

A fashion school student enters the world of the 60s during her sleep, as seen through the eyes of a dreamer who wants to be a star.

'Last Night in Soho' is a horror film, with accents of fantasy and drama. The dramatic part is beautifully done, maybe a little melodramatic, the horror part is run of the mill and the final reveal is semi-predictable.

Director:  Edgar Wright
With: Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Matt Smith, Diana Rigg, Terence Stamp, Jessie Mei Li

His House (2020)

A refugee couple from South Sudan tries to adapt to life in England, but sinister forces are hiding in their new home.

'His House' is a horror film on paper , but what is not obvious at a first glance is the considerable measure of multi-layered social drama. Excellently acted, with a minimal cast, the film manages to scare but also give one pause for thought and surprise.

Director:  Remi Weekes
With: Sope Dirisu, Wunmi Mosaku, Malaika Wakoli-Abigaba, Matt Smith, Javier Botet

Morbius (2022)

Michael Morbius suffers from a rare blood disease, as does his best friend, and in an attempt to cure himself, he accidentally infects himself with vampirism.

'Morbius' is a vampire action thriller set in the Marvel Universe. The vampiric presence is not particularly strong, but it is welcome, because it refreshes the MCU-type of action with a little more darkness. The film is the recipient of a lot of unfounded hatred, possibly due to the disappointment of the fans caused by Jared Leto's Joker. The character is believable and interesting enough, the narrative line is decent, the action is a bit all over the place, but overall, it's not half bad.

Director:  Daniel Espinosa
With: Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris
