Renfield (2023)

Renfield begins to feel the possibility of a life free from Dracula.

'Renfield' is a horror comedy, based on the codependent relationship between servant and master. With some successful moments of humor every now and then, fighting worthy of superhero movies, Renfield is not exactly the promised movie, but it is entertaining.

The Master Cleanse (2016)

A person disappointed in love volunteers to participate in a procedure, in a retreat, which should solve all his problems.

'The Master Cleanse' is a horror comedy rooted in ideas about human nature and the need to be understood, loved, accepted. With some rather strange ideas about sacrifice, the film is an interesting experiment, which also has its acceptable comic moments.

Death Becomes Her (1992)

An actress who wants to regain her youth finds an immortality solution, but she is not the first to use the method.

'Death Becomes Her' is a successful dark comedy, which has not lost its charm over the years, working perfectly even when watched these days. Meryl Streep in particular but also Goldie Hawn portray characters who are out of their comfort zone brilliantly, and Bruce Willis is wonderful in the role of the neurotic depressive Ernest. The film abounds in black humor and unexpected, skillfully potentiated situations, providing a perfect gem for  the fans of the genre and beyond.

Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)

Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita and Little Rock continue their post-apocalyptic adventures with a new challenge: evolved zombies.

'Zombieland: Double Tap' is the sequel to a successful horror-comedy, 10 years after the release of the first. The first film is not extraordinary, so it is difficult to understand why the producers wanted another one, especially without having Bill Murray attached. Fans of expensive blockbusters asked for it, they got it and were satisfied with just a mediocre movie. Ehh, at least it has Woody Harrelson, and some almost-cameos worth mentioning: Rosario Dawson and Luke Wilson.

Werewolves Within (2021)

A ranger moves to his new post in a small town in the mountains, close to wildlife and isolated, where dangerous events quickly arise.

'Werewolves Within' is a thriller-comedy with horror elements. It is adapted from a video game with werewolves, but focuses on extremely colorful and ranged characters, each displaying varying degrees of racism, ignorance and snobbery, or simply unmasked kindness. The film's charm comes entirely from the dialogue and the interaction of the characters, and the audience will notice small scenes perfectly choreographed for a maximized comic effect. A delight for a light evening

Mom and Dad (2017)

A brother and a sister must defend themselves from their parents, after these are affected by a contagious affliction that causes just parents to attack their own children.

'Mom and Dad' is a horror comedy with an absurd plot that brings to the surface truths about human deeply buried feelings that can cause depression, quarrels, endless accusations and all sorts of family dramas, usually absorbed by a sort of mental balance composed of love, sense of duty, and the need to procreate. Nicolas Cage is in his element and it's a great pleasure to watch him go crazy and Selma Blair is not far behind him.

Kill Me Three Times (2014)

A professional hitman finds himself in the middle of a sentimental jumble in a story told from three different points of view.

An attractive film at first sight that promised black humor and unlikely but funny situations that exaggerate unfavorable human traits. Although the film has some measure of these elements, the overall result is boring, sluggish and without any charm.

The Guard (2011)

Actiune politista ametita, scoasa din tipare de un reprezentant al Gardei irlandeze neconventional, direct si neprevazut, un grup de raufacatori reci, pasionati de filozofie si plictisiti de lipsa de profunzime din domeniul lor de activitate, si tandemul delicios a doua firi total opuse si cu o chimie in dialog rar intalnita. O mica bijuterie foarte relaxanta, cu o distributie de milioane, aproape accidental descoperita si savurata. De recomandat!
