Titane (2021)

A young woman, with a macabre taste for murder, hides her identity by posing as the lost son of a sad fireman.

"Titane" is an abstract thriller that tries to talk about the power of compassion and the need for closeness, even in extreme cases. The main actors carry the film admirably, and some moments are really interesting, but overall, the film is all over the place, implausible (as an idea, not its means of expression), and it takes half a film to reach something that leaves an impression.

Doubles vies (2018)

The head of a publishing house and one of its authors experience different episodes of midlife crisis and other usual dramas.

'Doubles Vies' is a French drama-comedy, with the signature of Olivier Assayas. Full of non-stop dialogue, the film skilfully shows that the most trivial and scandalous problems belong to all human nature, no matter how snobbish, intellectual, bigoted and arrogant (even for the right reasons) it is.

Tomboy (2011)

Laure's family moves to a new location and she decides to introduce herself to her new friends as being a boy.

"Tomboy" is a dramatic film that presents a short episode of the touching story of a girl who rejects the identity imposed on her. With a very small budget, filmed in 20 days, the film is beautifully made, surprisingly well acted by the 10-year-old girl and touching.

Criminal: France (2019– )

Series based on the same principles and idea as Criminal: UK but adapted to and located in France.

An impressive mission of those who produced the Criminal series family (along with Netflix). The idea of investigation interviews and the style are common, but it is an unbelievable achievement when comparing scenography, filming style and every little detail of each scene using the same tools, decorations, rooms, hallways and any other small feature that has been carefully maintained. The choice of subjects for the French version is slightly different, the emphasis being nicely put on diversity, unusualness and sentimentality, in a very pleasant way.

Production:  Netflix
Creator:  George Kay, Jim Field Smith
Duration:  1 season of 3 episodes(39 minutes each)
With: Margot Bancilhon, Laurent Lucas, Stéphane Jobert, Anne Azoulay
